Signing in

Signing in with your email and password, setting your password the first time, forgetting it, and how long you stay signed in.

For Admins and Agents · Updated

You sign in to your service desk with your work email and a password. If you turned on two-step verification, or your admin requires it, you also enter a code from your authenticator app.

  1. Go to your service desk address (for example yourcompany.servaicedesk.com). If you do not remember it, servaicedesk.com/sign-in/ emails you the address of every desk you belong to.
  2. Enter your work email and password.
  3. If asked, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or one of your recovery codes.

Setting your password the first time

New people, and everyone who used ServAIceDesk before passwords existed, set a password through the same email as a forgotten one:

  1. On the sign-in page select Forgot your password, or signing in for the first time?
  2. Enter your work email and select Email me a link.
  3. Open the email and choose a password. The link works once and expires after 30 minutes.

A password must be at least 12 characters. It cannot be your email address or a well-known password, and it is checked against public lists of leaked passwords without sending the password anywhere. A few unrelated words is easy to remember and hard to guess. A password manager is better still.

Staying signed in

Keep me signed in on this device (on by default) keeps you signed in for 30 days. Turn it off on a shared computer: you are then signed out when the browser closes.

Mistyped passwords

The sign-in page only ever says *Email or password is incorrect*. It never reveals whether an address has an account. After 10 wrong passwords in a row the account waits 15 minutes before it accepts another try. Resetting the password by email works at any time.

Who can sign in

  • Staff (admins and agents) must be added under Settings › People & access first.
  • Requesters can sign in with any address unless your admin limited sign-in to your company's email domains (see Requesters and email domains).
  • A blocked person cannot sign in or get a password link, and loses any open session at once.

Signing out

Use Sign out at the top right. Changing or resetting your password, or an admin removing you from the team, ends all your sessions.

Can't find what you need? Signed-in admins can use Contact ServAIceDesk support under Settings › Billing & support.
